About Us

Who We Are
We are a group of civic-minded volunteers that work together to help meet the needs of our community. Many of us are full-time professionals working in the fields of mental health, addiction recovery and social service. Some of us are stay-at-home moms, some of us are students, but what ties us all together is the desire to make our community a better place for those who are less fortunate.
Who we help
Our mission is to assist those in our community who are food, shelter, and clothing insecure, a well as honor and support our Veterans and aid women and children in local shelters.
How We Help
We aim to help in any way we can, but more specifically, we provide food and clothing to those who need it, assist with specific needs to help families make ends meet, hold regular events to celebrate, honor and support our Veterans, and engage our community’s youth to promote organized constructive activities.
Celebrate Holidays and Birthdays
During the Christmas season, we believe that no child should go without a gift under the tree. Each year we work to provide more than 1,500 children with age- and interest-appropriate gifts through our Adopt a Family Christmas program. We also host an annual Secret Santa Shopping event where the women of the CYWA shop for and have donated gifts wrapped while their children spend time with Santa, doing crafts and enjoying some refreshments.
As the Spring Season approaches and children look forward to the Easter Bunny’s visit, we host an Easter Brunch to provide families with a heathy meal, Easter outfits, activities and goodies.
Thanksgiving is a time for giving and giving thanks for what we have. We host a Thanksgiving meal for our community and help ensure that families have food on their tables to celebrate the holiday with family.
We have joined Wildflower Balloons and a number of businesses and organizations to help one lucky member of our community celebrate their birthday each month by supplying everything they need from a cake, balloons and decorations, a new outfit and more. Shar’s Hands rounds out the celebrations by donating a gift to be given to the birthday person.
Size-Up Program
As children grow, it can be increasingly difficult for parents to provide them with seasonally-appropriate, properly-fitting clothing and shoes. Our team helps to ensure that children in need have at least a few outfits, appropriate footwear and a coat to keep them warm when needed.
Honor our Veterans
Working with our local VA Medical Center, our team hosts monthly Veteran Bingo Nights to bring a smile to the faces of those who have served our Country. Snacks and prizes as well as essential items like toiletries and undergarments are provided to the Veterans during the events.
At our annual Veterans Barbecue, we welcome Veterans and our community to this fun event to celebrate the Veteran’s service and honor the sacrifices that were made in the name of our Country. Held at the VA Medical Center, we provide food and refreshments as well as music and games at this free event.
Emergency Support for Essentials
As anyone knows, things come up. It is getting harder and harder to make ends meet. That’s where we come in. Over the years, we have supported our families in need by supplying anything from beds, clothing, shoes, towels, and essentials like toiletries and undergarments to prom dresses and birthday gifts. Our goal is to help lessen the load for those in our community.
All of these great events and initiatives are only possible with the support of our generous community. If you would like to help support our team and those we serve, please consider making a donation, volunteering, or purchasing an item (or two) off of our Amazon Wishlists.
