Our Story

Shar’s Hands was founded with the goal of helping those in need. For years before its inception, founder Rhonda Stewart and her mother, Sharlene, had donated their time to giving back, and raising money to help kids and families.

Rhonda had been involved in giving back to her community from an early age. Then, when she had her first child, Jayda, those same beliefs were instilled. At the age of five, Jayda began serving alongside her mom and MomMom. They volunteered at local church events, adopted many families for the Christmas holiday in their local community, and always had a heart to provide for those who were unsheltered in their community. Teaching kids to be kind and help others is a principle very important to this organization.

In addition to Rhonda’s mom, she often served in the community with her best friend, Racine. Both have always shared a heart to help others. After many community events together, Rhonda said to Racine following a day in Kensington serving the unsheltered community, “I am going to do it, I am going to start my own nonprofit so we can help even more people”.

Now, Shar’s Hands serves communities throughout Pennsylvania with a large focus on Chester and Berks Counties prioritizing the spread of love, kindness, and generosity. Additionally, Shar’s Hands kindness has spread to many other states and countries.

As Shar’s Hands grew,  its team grew with it. Now featuring several long term volunteers, partners and supporters, Shar’s Hands has a voice that can be heard throughout the community.
